That Golden Feeling and Birch by Carolyn Garner
This is a 10 x 10" fabric "painting" on canvas.
Carolyn Garner earned a B.A. in Graphic Design at San Jose State University just before computers changed the industry. Her art background and interest in working by hand, instead of digitally, has led her to many creative endeavors.
15 years ago, Carolyn began volunteering at Fab-Mo, a non-profit organization that rescues discontinued samples from design centers in San Francisco and makes them available to the public, rather than being thrown in a landfill. She's made countless creative projects from these materials, but was drawn to make paintings from fabric samples. Carolyn was inspired by and art piece in her parents' home made by her dad's cousin who spent many a winter day in Sweden creating nature scenes from small fabric scraps.
Carolyn gravitates toward making fabric paintings based on photographs from everyday life and from travels to see family. She resides in the South Bay Are of CA and enjoys gardening, puzzling, and spending time with her children and grandkids.
