Mentor of many Santa Barbara artists, Ray Strong is well known for his landscapes and large dioramas at the Sanata Barbara Museum of Natural History. He has travelled widely, painting landscapes throughout the West. This painting is one of Strong's favorites. It was painted in 1936 and is of the east side of Black's Mountain in Marin County, California.
